Primary Investigator
John Updegraff (email) is a Professor of Social and Health Psychology. He earned his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed an NIMH-funded postdoctoral position at University of California, Irvine. Dr. Updegraff's research appears in top-tier journals and is funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health. Graduate Students
Karigan Capps (BA, Ohio University-Zanesville 2019), is a fourth-year graduate student in the SHE lab. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Ohio University-Zanesville. Her research interests concern future-oriented thought, particularly optimism, and how this relates to health behavior. Her favorite genre of entertainment is fictional thriller/suspense and true-crime—whether it is through books, movies, or podcasts.
