The Self Health and Emotion Lab is the research lab directed by Dr. John Updegraff, at Kent State's Department of Psychological Sciences. Our lab conducts psychological research that focuses on the cognitive and emotional processes that underlie health behavior change, well-being, and adaptation to stress. We conduct both basic and applied research, using a variety of research methods including experimentation, intervention, survey, and experience sampling methods. Our broad goal is to develop and refine theoretical models that help understand and promote healthy behavior and well-being.
